the buzz

"I thought we were just going to be still and meditate, and we did do that, but Hawah really got us sweating with the posture practice too. Class was REALLY good."
-Student review

Lauren is from a small town in the Catksill Mountains, where she began practicing yoga before she even knew what it was that she was doing.  She was re-introduced to yoga at a dance workshop the summer after her freshman year of college.  She practiced on and off over the years but began a daily Baptiste practice in 2004, deciding to pursue teacher training at local Baptise studio, Down Dog Yoga.  In 2005, Lauren earned her RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) from Down Dog and has also trained with Shiva Rea at the Kripalu Institute.  In addition, Lauren now includes many styles of yoga in her own practice (Astanga, Iyangar, Vinyasa, Hatha, Bikram, and Kundalini).  She explores every style of asana she can get her hands on, attending local classes and traveling to retreats throughout North and Central American with the most inspiring yogini she knows, her mom.

Although Lauren's classes are vinyasa based in the Baptiste style, she tries to incorporate many styles of yoga into her classes.  As Lauren is a former track athlete and Division I rower, her classes are sure to include a challenging balance between athleticism, grace, and calm.
